We are commissioning a 3000 kW, 11kV Motor to drive the Crude Oil Pump. The lube oil system of this unit has two nos. of 2.2kW motors. Surprisingly, the vendor has provided the space heater for these motors. I think providing space heaters for such a small motors is very unusual.
During the engineering, the space heater supply was missed out. However, the users are insisting to connect supply to the space heater!!! Their rationale to insist for heater connection is that the vendor has provided the space heater and terminals!!!
My experience is to provided the space heaters for the motors rated 37 kW and above.
Any experience to share or any views?
