Regarding spades thickness calculation, there is a specific equation in ASME B31.3 depends on many parameters and one of them is the internal design pressure.

Once applying this equation, thickness of spades appears with a certain value which may not allow me to install it between flanges during shutdown because of narrow available space.

I'm asking if there is any reference standard like ASME or best practice that allow me to use a thinner spades especially that internal piping pressure during shutdown tends to be negligible.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
