Hi,
My question is more of an IT infrastructure one but since I couldn't find a more relevant forum I thought I post it here. So here is it is:
I am a clinical engineer in a Hospital and currently we are designing new Biomed Data closets (Similar to tel/data closets) for a new building. These closets are used for the biomedical equipment on the network. We are planning to have some extra switches on each rack as spares or standby switches so in case any of the active switches broke down we can quickly switch to the standby network switch. What I need to know however is that how many of these spare units I need to consider for each rack depending on the number of active switches. Is there a way to simply estimate these numbers? I don't have failure probability numbers for these switches so this only a general rough estimation.
