I want to make an M8x1.0 tapped hole using Hole Wizard. I want to use Hole Wizard instead of just adding a cosmetic thread because I want to use my hole callout definition file in the drawing. Is there a way to add a special tapped hole to Hole Wizard?

That would require that you modify the database that runs the hole wizard and I have been "STRONLGY" urged by Solidworks not to mess with it. This very thing has been a topic of discussion for some time with people behind the hole wizard, and they have said that they are going to be adding this option...the question is WHEN!

cmm,

FWIW, I have made many, many edits to the ansiinch.mdb file in order to add hole wizard thread types/sizes. I do agree with APPENG, in that SldWks by no means recomends this. I would also note that I am making my changes to a backed up file. As well as NOT making changes to the [default.mdb] file.
:
C:\Program Files\SolidWorks\lang\english\AnsiInch.mdb
edit the Tap and Thrd tables to add threads to the DB

This is working well for me. As I am by no means willing to wait for SldWks to address this issue :) Some of us are just "funny" that way :)

Same as Sean. I have made a few, cautious, carefull, double checked changes to a SEPERATE copy of the DB files. If you make one itty bitty mistake, pop goes the weasel. So make COPIES.

Hey, if you never try to break it, you may never get to re-install SW or your OS....
