I am trying to insert weld specifications to a drawing on SolidWorks 2003 SP5.0. The software will not let me insert the weld specificaion onto the drawing, so I must insert the weld bead onto the model.

I am trying to do a bevel weld. I have a sheet metal part with a chamfer on oone edge sitting on a flat surface. I select the chamfer and the flat surface, I hit next, then I hit finish. The error message I get says "Selected faces from different components must share at least one coincident edge for this weld bead operation."

I finally figured out how to get the weld specification on the drawing. I had to click on the feature first. I would still like to know how to insert the feature itself.

unfortunately drawoh,

Solidworks does require that you have contact between the parts that you want to weld. It does not yet make provisions for a root gap, and the like.
