I am working on a project for a 7.5 meter runway beam, but it will be necessary to make a splice as the profiles only come in 6 meters in length. Would there be any problem with this welded splice? My concern is due to fatigue. I was thinking about making a bolted splice, but the projection would be on the top flange and would interfere with the crane rail. Has anyone ever made this type of connection for a bearing beam?

Beams of all sizes, including bridge girders, which are subject to significant fatigue stresses, are weld-spliced all the time. For bridge girders, I think it requires a full-penetration butt weld, and ultrasonic testing.
