Good Afternoon all.

Im interesting in understand if mesh reinforcement (in this A393 (UK)) can be laced together using straight bar, tied with an appropriate lengths across each section of mesh (ie each mesh mat placed next to each other and then laced/spliced at each 200mm bar position to join the mesh sheets together) rather than overlapping the mesh by the usual 400mm or so. Doing it this way would really help remove some quite congested areas in corners and would also mean I could get away from using flying end mesh which for the job I have to do - creates quite a bit of waste.

Thanks.
Dave

I've seen bars used in slab construction joint details often by lots of different engineers. Big pour that needs to be broken up, but still wanting the slab to act monolithically across the joint. It's not practical to lap mesh through the side form, so they drill holes in the end form and run #3's or #4's at a particular spacing to get cast into the slab.
