Splicing Zone of Bored Pile Rebar Cages

Hi Guys!

I have a question regarding the splicing zone of rebar.

Is it really required to have a staggered splicing of rebar?
Note: We are following ACI Code

Staggered slices are not required by ACI, but do allow a shorter lap length. If you choose to align splices, lap length will increase by 30%
