SPLINE, Catia V5, PDF/print problems

Hi,

Got a problem with some strange prolongation/extension of SPLINE when producing PDF-files and when printing drawings. The SPLINE looks fine on the screen, but once on PDF or print some of the lines continues from the SPLINE (both directions) and across the whole drawing...For example a SPLINE originally sized 1 cm suddenly covers the whole paper while the rest of the model remains the same.

We are using Catia V5 release 8 on a windows 2000 platform. The problem occurs on several computers and printers. It has happened with several drawings, but not all, leading me to the conclution that it must be the file itself that is the problem.

This problem seems to be increasing. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to solve the problem? Have anyone experienced the same problem?

Yes, we have the same problem. We are running V5R8 SP2 on both W2k and NT4, and both platforms have the problem. We have not found the real solution, but we just delete the entity from the view. Sometimes it is difficult to find the correct one (depending on part geometry). The untrimmed curve shows up in the print preview so you can do some trial and error without printing each time.

We also occasionally lose visible lines on drawing views after updating the drawing. Have you seen this?

I would be interested to find out if this problem is corrected in a later service pack.

Your right, the untrimmed curves appears in preview as well. Since the curves are created already at that stage, I rule out any theories I had about possible printer, or printer driver, problems. It seems to be a simple Catia V5r8 SP2 flaw.

I don't know about you, but we usually get this problem using isometric view.

We haven't had problems with disappearing lines.

I have ordered V5 release 9 with servicepack 2...don't know how fast I'll get it though..will test it on one machine and let you know if it helps.

I have now upgradet one of our machines to release 9, service pack 2, and the problem seems solved.
