Spline closure

I have a spline which was created by projecting curves onto a surface. I have joined it to create one curve. I have measured the distance from endpoint to endpoint, which is 0. How do I create a closed curve with this? Info object states that the closure status is open. I have tried changing the length then editing the endpoint so that the endpoints are coincident, but it is still considered open.
I need a closed curve to perform FiberSim operations with it.
