Win 7 64 NX 8.5. When I am in Shape Studio and a I am looking in TOP view, I lay down a 3D studio spline as I would expect,it is on the top plane.
When I switch views to the Right and begin to lay down the first point it jumps to the top and consecutive points also stay on the top plane.
I thought a 3D studio spline would honor whichever standard view you are in and create the spline on the respective world plane.
not that it is a big deal considering I am just going to move it and any control points where I want in 3D space.
The same seems to be true when creating a four point surface.
Also is there any way to lock the tool bars I have had problems with a few of them not holding there shape.
mainly the resource bar, mine are stretched out horizontally and they want to revert to a more vertical shape, I am constantly moving it back.

Thanks, Buddy.

Hi cobaltred,
Please refer to the image attached. If you have your Drawing Plane setting to VIEW then you would be able to achieve what you desire to.Everytime you change your view the spline will be created on that specific plane only.
As far as four point surface is concerned then yes the points are selected on the XY wcs plane by default. But most of the times we normally take references of existing points to create it and often use X-form to manipulate the point location dynamically. But if you think it could be a good enhancement then an enhancement request is always welcome.
As far as re-setting of the layout is concerned you can go to Customize and then use reset layout in the layout tab.
I guess there was a simmilar discussion regarding this sometimes back also.

Yes,that helps thanks.I guess I use the surface from four points to just lay down a basic surface that I than use X-form to change it's
parameters and manipulate but I understand that a more common use would be to reference other geometry.

Buddy.

It works slightly different in NX that i think you expect.
In NX the default "snap plane" ( such a name does not exist but it explains the action.) is the WCS Xc -Yc ( Not the "X-Y" which refers to the global static absolute Csys.) Almost all "cursor position snap" will be Zc=0, the exception ( ?) is the studio spline when set to "view" where the the snap plane is screen parallel and "depth" is probably = model center. So , do not rotate the view while you pick the points if you place "screen positions" and the drawing plane= view because the "depth" is impossible to predict.

Tomas
