I was attempting to model a split mould for a 3d wing- which is, a 2d profile swept on a 3d spline. Simple variant of this would be a drooping wing on a glider.
OK, so for the most part it seems split moulds are defined by building the 3d model, and the billet, then subtracting out the model from the billet, and then using a cut plane to split the billet in half. But, this doesnt work for an object such as a drooped wing, since neither the leading nor trailing edge falls in a single plane. Maybe I can do an extruded cut using the 3d spline, but that spline is not contained in the derrived part created in the subtraction (so far as I can tell).
Any pointers are appreciated-
