My Question: is there an alternative to Hilti's DX450-SCT test method (https://www.hilti.co.uk/fstore/holuk/techlib/docs/DX450_SCT_Leaflet_en_W3636.pdf) for early strength testing of insitu sprayed concrete (shotcrete/gunite)?

This is for testing the compressive strength in the range of 3 MPa to 16 MPa. There is a European standard which covers this (EN 14488-2 method B) but as far as I can tell Hilti are the only company that manufacture something which covers this.

How early are you talking about??

just take samples and get an early break. we usually spray a box the same time as spraying then cut cores. three day breaks are common. check ASTM

ICC special inspector, Structural masonry, Reinforced concrete.

For the strength in question; 1-6hrs depending on mix design. I agree that coring is a possibility but very expensive to have an on-site lab to test so quickly.

I am not familiar with the ASTM standards (being a european), is there one that prescribes an alerternative?
