What would be the preferred material for a 10" spring check valve for a sanitary sewer lift station with some corrosive material being discharged, Ductile Iron or Cast Iron?

Depending on a lot of factors, both of the direct application and quality of wetted surfaces (or treatment of inner surfaces = nothing ?) and general construction of the valve.Ggenerally I would tend to regard ductile iron as better than cast iron.

Quite another thing is the general type of spring loaded valve selected, dimentioning and ability to prevent 'water hammer* or other problems in the systems. (Search this forum for previous discussions)

Snoprey, what kind of "corrosive matetrial" is being discharged? Iron (whether cast or ductile) might not make the cut if depending on what's passing through the valves. You might want to share process data so that we can offer better feedback.

I work with valves in exotic alloys at alloy-valves.com. This is me on Twitter and LinkedIn. Let's connect!
