Does anyone know how to add the square brackets that are used on dual dimensions to a note so that it looks the same as size and style.

Have a look at the dual dimension function.
I've used it with NX5, and its found under Settings - Units.

Read carefully and you will note that I know about dual dimensions but want to know about using the brackets in a note.

Running cad straight out of the box is OK but, a system tuned with application software is the best way to increase productivity.

Read the section in the documentation titled "Symbols and text Control Characters".

I tried, but couldn't get it exactly right. It may also depend on what font you are using.

This function must be already embedded in UG.
Better answared by John Baker or GTAC.

It IS already "embedded" in NX. While in drafting, select a dimension, then go to Dimension Style>Units>Dual Dimension Format and Units. See the pic:

potrer, the OP is trying to do that to a note, not a dimension.
