Squealing noise from battery?

General question for the experts... My mobile phone has a 3.7 V Lithium Ion battery, it has been in use for about two years now. I have a name-brand coil wireless charger for the device and have been using it for well over a year. Within the last few months, on rare occasion I will be charging the battery and then I will start hearing a squealing noise. If I remove the phone from the wireless charger the noise continues coming from the device. When I remove the charger cover which has the coil in it, the noise continues from either the battery or the phone.

This is worrisome. Any knowledge or theories as to what is going on here? Should I stop using the battery and buy a new one?

I am going to contact the manufacture to see what they have to say as well.

The noise is not coming from the battery.

It is coming from something oscillating. That will be the coil in the charger who's windings may be vibrating with the alternating current powering it OR it is an inductor in the phone or the charger that is oscillating at a low enough frequency to be heard by humans. The inductors are used everywhere in the switching power supplies of both the charger and the phone.

You're question is not clear to me with regard as to exactly which device this squealing is coming from.

I'd also do a web search for noise/buzzing/squealing/ with respect to your exact phone model AND the same search for the charger model. In this world I can guarantee you aren't the only person lucky enough to have this specific problem.

The noise has to be coming from the phone then... I contacted the manufacture but their response wasn't particularly helpful as their only suggestions were to power cycle the phone or do a factory restore and i've already done that. To be fair though I didn't tell them I had done that. Anyway next time i'll try to determine if it is coming from within the phone, or the speaker, or the battery. I know you said it isn't but I haven't determined that for sure. I will check back when I learn more.

You'll probably want to google your partiuclar phone and/or charger to find info from other users with similar experience which surely is on-line.

Obviously knowing the brand / model of phone/charger would be helpful to anyone attempting to answer, but again I'm not sure this is the best place to explore it.
