hi to all
I am working on a soil structure interation project. And I wanna use hysteritic material models introduce in new sap2000 v9 . I wonder anybody has done any analysis using soft clay. Using deviatoric stress strain curve in material definition is not enough because program asks for negative strain values.

If one of you guys tell em a little about the soil modelling in sap2000 it will be appreciated.

regards,

I would also like to know the new feature of soil-structure interaction function in new SAP.

However, as far as I know, SAP don't have sub-structure modeling function and I am wondering the new feature will put the soil perperties into the structure matrix (single matrix). Because in Abaqus, you can use sub-structure to model SSI.

I even don't know where to find the SSI feature in SAP menu.

I don't believe users can input TY type soil curves associated with plastic strain, although CSI's website mentions a future link with SASSI for soil/structure interaction. In the meantime, why not define nonlinear links, multilinear plastic type, and specify your own force vs displacement curves to accomplish the same thing?

Oops, I meant to type P-Y, not TY. Anyway, while talking with CSI tech support a couple of days ago, the support guy told me about some of the new features that SAP version 10 will offer, and one of those new features is soil structure interaction which allows you input nonlinear P-Y, T-Z curves. Also, they finished the SASSI interface. He did not say whether those soil structure features would be included in version 10 Advanced, or whether they would cost extra. In any event, he said CSI should be shipping SAP version 10 next week.
