stainless 300 series - does it usually come annealed?

When you purchase stainless in the 300 series e.g. round bar or whatever - does it usually come in the annealed condition? I think so... thanks

No, not necessarily. By the way, you should be using a material specification for purchase, not a trade name or common designation like 300 series.

I was saying 300 series just as a generalization... I didnt know it would make a difference in the answer... let me word different

If you ordered A276 grade 304 1" round bar and did not specify that it should come in the annealed condition--> how would it MOST LIKELY arrive. Thanks guys

If you are specifying Type 304 according to ASTM A 276, you are supposed to specify Condition A (annealed), S (relatively light cold work) or B (relatively severe cold work). If you don't specify it, you probably will get a mix of the three depending on the what your provider's other customers are specifying.

If you order to a spec you need to own a current copy of the spec.
It forms the legal basis for your purchase contract.

I assume that you ordered bars which are available from stock.

If so, I think the simplest answer to your actual question is :

If you don't specify the condition,you will get what's more convenient to your supplier's current delivery posibillities.

Call your supplier and get them to fax you a copy of the material certification o f the stock they are sending you as it will have the condition. Even though as stated above you should have specified the condition a good supplier should have asked you about the required condition.
Depending on your end use the condition may not be a concern as the hardness is derived from cold work. Depending on the machining operations we work full hard 304L with no problems.
