Hi,

I need to manufacture new enclosure for my machine.
Presently the enclosure is made from galvanised mild steel. I need to make it now from stainless steel.
The other machine components are made from mild steel (not galvanised).
Can I make connection between not galvanised mild steel and s/s with e.g. galvanised steel bolts, to avoid corrosion?

P.S. The environment conditions depend on whether the machine is working or not. When it is operational the machine temperature is approx. 200degC (humidity unknown) and when it is not working it means that it is exposed to temp. 5-25degC (~ outside conditions).

Please help

Regards

How much corrosion is acceptable?
If you bolt the SS to the plain steel you will get some accelerated corrosion of the plain steel at the contact.
But the result of this is usually just rust staining and streaks.
