It has been suggested that the weld ability of stainless steels can be improved by oxidizing the surface by subjecting it to an elevated temperature in an oxidizing environment. From the penetration point of view, do you agree or disagree, and why?

Can ref a research paper on this?
The oxygen content of the weld gas is important, but the desired values are quite small.
I believe that the S content of the alloy has more impact.
