We have a sterile supply room in our hospital that is fed by a large AHU (that also feeds many other zones). The concern is that we need to maintain a low discharge air temp from the AHU in order to maintain the humidity requirements of the sterile supply room. The other zones do not need this low temp supply air. To work around this issue, we would like to install a standalone dehumidifier in the sterile supply room in order to keep humidity levels low, while allowing the AHU to have a higher discharge air temp (avoiding the need to additionally reheat the air to the other zones).
Is there any restriction or code that would prevent using a standalone dehumidifier in such a room? The plan would be to use the dehumidifier's drain tube option for removing condensate, rather than the fill bucket. The drain line would be penetrating an adjoining wall into a mechanical room where it would drain to a floor drain.
