I am designing a small mixing vessel and from my research the standard flanged and dished bottom seems to be the best choice for keeping particles in suspension. However, I am not able to find info/suggestions on choosing the dimensions of the standard flanged and dished bottom. The vessel in question is not pressurized (atmospheric pressure) and not built according to a specific code/standard. Could you please give some tips or link to some resource regarding the design of this type of tank bottom.
Thanks

Be aware that "Standard Flanged and Dished" vessel heads do not have to conform to specific Code dimensions like ASME F&D heads

The best source of information are the people that offer these for sale .... Like the kind and helpful people at "Brighton Tru-Edge"

If you are fabbing the tank, contact your head supplier.
If you will be purchasing the fabricated tank, contact some of the fabricators.
The standard non-code head dimensions will vary from one head supplier to another.
If dimensions are not especially critical, just specify an F&D head, a minimum tank volume, and let the fabricators work it out.
Welded pipe caps would be another option, and I don't know how pricing or availability varies.

Thanks all for your pointers.

@MJCronin, in addition to your link I also found some general size info on the F&D heads on their website. At least I am a bit more informed :)

@JStephen,

We will be outsourcing the tank fabrication to an external supplier so he needs to source all parts. But I was suspected I needed to provide them dimensions of the head too.

The dimensions are not critical but I thought "Standard" F&D will have some specific criteria to work out the dimensions for different tank sizes.

From some photos on google image search, the welded pipe caps seemed similar to a dished head. Or I am missing some substantial differences between the two?
