Standard for Interpreting standards 1

Hi Guys,

we are having a little difficulty with an interpretation of a BS EN ISO standard. I know there is a standard which determines the rules by which a standard is written and interpreted, does anyone happen to know what it is

I am not familiar with anything like this. Is it a technical interpretation, a language/grammatical issue, something else? It is always possible to contact BSI or ISO and speak directly to the relevant document "owner" or committee chair.

Basically it is a comment in the introduction which I am querying. I always understood that the standard refers to what is in the main body of the text only. The reason being is that if you take the introductory comment into the body of the text, it very much makes everything within the text completely subjective...

As said before, you can address questions either to BS or ISO. A quicker way is to send the question directly to the national commitee responsible for the drafting of the standard. The responsible organisation is always given in the standard. Either the secretary or the chairman of the national committee should be able to answer question of interpretation.
