Hello,
My company buys a lot of 1-1/4 90° 150 Lb type 316 SS Street Elbows with BSP metric threads, for use on OEM equipment that we manufacture. Recently, our supplier has begun sending us a different brand of fitting that is much lighter and susceptible to ovaling during installation. In this first picuture, the fitting on the left is what we've recently started receiving. The fitting on the right is a different 150 lb fitting with a wall thickness that is representative of what we were previously receiving:
Both fittings are stamped as 150 lb:
The supplier says that they're both 150 Lb fittings, even though they look different and that if we want something more robust, we need to go to a 3000 Lb fitting.
I'm trying to determine if these fittings are built to any standard that would address wall thickness. Since they are not NPT and since they are stainless, I'm not sure if ANSI B16 series is applicable (we don't own any of those standards, but would gladly buy one or more if I knew they applied.) Or maybe it's an ISO standard I'm looking for. Or maybe there simply isn't a standard that covers wall thickness.
If you have information regarding an applicable standard for this fitting, it would be very much appreciated.
