Anyone know why I can't see any parts in the standard parts library? I installed it today of the CD but when I open it I have a blank slate. Do I have to create the library? I see a bunch of parts in the starndard parts directory. Any thought? thanks.

What version of Solid Edge do you have? Design & Drafting, Foundation or Classic? I believe only the Classic version (high end) provides extensive content in the Standard Parts Library.

On the Foundation version, when you install the SP library, you get a few nuts & bolts, you have to generate your own content.

I'm not sure what version I have or how to tell what version I have. I do however have a ton of parts listed in C:\Solid Edge Standard Parts\Standard Parts but when I start the standard parts library I get an empty pallet and no way to browse to where the parts are. Any idea on how to do that?

Personally I have never used the Std parts library as I found it too cumbersome and awkward.
IMHO SE-PartsXL (free version) is far superior and I use it on a regular basis, but it's horses for courses and in my field its exactly what I require.
I don't believe that SE-PartsXL is free anymore but the original is probably available somewhere on the net.

@ karmoth

It's not available anymore. I remember trying it out with V14 a few years ago.

@ Superslinky

Sorry I can't help you more, our SE representative supplied us with a custom-made parts library, so I didn't spend much time trying to figure out Standard Parts.

If I remember correctly, there's a PDF or HTML manual buried in the DVD somewhere.

Have a look in Help, search for Standard Parts then select "Standard Parts In Solid Edge" from the choices.
It may help sort out the problem.

Start the standard Parts administrator (Start Programs list in Solid Edge Vxx) and click the second icon (register parts in the database.

It can take a while. Start it one evening when you leave work.

Use the recommanded setting (option 1 with the new ST version). But use the other option (multiple parts) if you're using an earlier version.

I'm having a similar issue with Standard Parts and ST. I can't seem to properly register the new database.

In Part Administrator/Register the "Recommended" option shows no entry in the Standard Parts Installation Database box. Attempting to point to a new .ddb file indicates that no .ddb files existing in my Standard Parts installation folder. (Actually I've searched my drive and only Skype files are .ddb.) The other weird thing is that Current Standard Part Database indicates ...StandardParts19.mdb, which I believe should be ...100.mdb, for SE ST. I can hit the file selector button and manually select StandardParts100.mdb but the window only enables the CANCEL button when I return; the NEXT button is ghosted. I think that's the crux of my problem but I can figure a way around it. Seems like I'm not successfully registering the ...100.mdb database to make ST happy. BTW, the databases are on a different drive, which has been working fine for years.

reg,

did you run Start --> Programs --SolidEdge ST --> Standardparts

Configuration Wizard

after the install of the 'Standard Parts Server' and the 'Machinery
Library'?

Yes. Config Wizard seems to indicated everything correctly. It indicates StandardParts100.mdb as the database file location. Parts Folder box indicates 3d-Standard_Parts_V8.50, which I believe is correct. I'm a single license so Store Parts on File System is checked. Working Folder Location is correct. The Administrator app actually went out for hours and appeared to be generating the database, but when it was done I didn't have any more parts than when I started. I've tried restarting SE numerous times.

PS Enclosed a screen shot of the Conf Wizard. Maybe someone can spot something obvious.
