Standards Australia says in the front cover

"Standards Australia welcomes suggestions for improvements, and encourages readers to
notify us immediately of any apparent inaccuracies or ambiguities.
Contact us via email at
mail@standards.org.au, or write to Standards Australia, GPO Box 476, Sydney, NSW 2001."

It turns out when I contacted them regarding some apparent inaccuracies or ambiguities that the process involves filling out an 11 page form! Is this really how they encourage us?

What were the inaccuracies out of curiosity?

Send me an email and I will reply privately with a direct email address for AS3600 contact. If you want, send me the queries as well first because I may be able to point out which ones you may as well delete!

Sorry for the delay. I've been busy and this isn't at the top of my list. Here's the things we found in my office for AS1657; I suspect there are others.

A) Slip resistance required for twin stile rung ladders but not for single stile
7.4 TWIN-STILE RUNG-TYPE LADDERS
7.4.3.1 General
The surface of rungs shall be slip resistant (e.g. corrugated, serrated, knurled, dimpled or
coated with a slip-resistant material).
7.5 SINGLE-STILE RUNG-TYPE LADDERS
No such requirement

However after my original post I found there is a catch all in
3.1.3 Slip resistance
Walking surfaces, including steps, treads, and rungs, shall be slip resistant.

B) Rung shape. Discrepancy between 7.4.3.1 and Appendix I, and can I3 be used for rungs on a single stile ladder?
7.4.3.1 General
Rungs shall be not less than 20 mm diameter and not greater than 50 mm diameter.
I3 TWIN-STILE RUNG-TYPE LADDERS—RUNG SHAPES
The maximum cross-sectional width of the rung should be 65 mm, and the maximum height
45 mm. The minimum cross-sectional width and height should be 20 mm.

C) Top rung height
7.4.3.3 Variation of top rung/tread spacing
The top rung/tread shall be level with the top landing, as shown in Figure 7.5.
Figure 7.5 shows the rung centreline level with the platform
7.4.8.4 Ladder landing
…Where the ladder provides access to a landing, the landing shall be level with the top rung. …
NOTE: See Figure 7.11(a).
Figure 7.11(a) shows the top of the rung level with the platform
