Are there any published standards that a motor needs to meet if it is going to be controlled by a VFD? If there are could someone point me there? Thank you

NEMA MG-1 Part 31 Inverter Duty

If you search this site you should find several previous discussions.

In the United States it would be NEMA MG-1 Part 30 and Part 31. Part 31 is for definite purpose motors for inverter duty. Part 30 is for general purpose motors to be used on inverters.

You can find it at
If you search this forum I have posted links to a couple of other NEMA publications which are free which are a condensed free version of MG-1 and an appication guide for using VFD's on motors.
