Hi,
Im having an issue with the frontal area report of star-ccm+ in a 3d external flow simulation over an ahmed body. I am doing a half body simulation which would lead to a frontal area around .056 m^2 but I am getting .208 m^2. I am selecting all parts in the region that make up the ahmed body. It seems as if it is reporting surface are for the surfaces rather than a projected area on the front plane.
I tried to follow this tutorial( ) for help but it seems they have the same issue with a very incorrect frontal area. I plan on eventually doing a rather complex geometry where Cd and Cl are very important and wish to get this right.
The only simulation to give a proper frontal area and proper Cd has been a sphere
