If you could start over… what would you do / not do?
We are starting a new year and a new direction.
Our company is starting from the ground up using NX7.5 and TeamCenter 8 (as a CAD vault only at this point).
Long story short:
Looking for step by step tutorials, videos, advice:
• Creating Title Blocks from scratch
• How to use the attribute list and automatically update drawings
• Effectively use seed files and defaults
• Automatically populate BOM found on the drawings (in a specific order)
• Importing several NX assemblies into TeamCenter from Native NX using a batch process
• Effectively managing Datasets
• Adding new materials to the Material Library and store this Data within TeamCenter
• Can attributes or expression be pulled out of the Material Library data to auto populate fields in the BOM? (Engineering Specs, Material name, etc)
• Effective use of part linking & WAVE within TeamCenter
• Storing Symbols within TeamCenter instead of on a local drive
Long story condensed:
We would love to hear suggestion, tips, pointers, warnings, and advice. Tutorial and step-by-step instructions, whether uploaded as Word files or PDF’s, illustrated using a video, or written out on this forum would be great ! We all have taken several courses but real world knowledge cannot be beat. We also all have subscriptions to the Learning Advantage - Gold Membership so if you know of a particular course to direct us to we’re willing to take that advice as well.
Currently we have a handful of part files made using the Native version of NX. Now that the users are comfortable using NX, we are designing new title blocks for our drafting department and we are starting to move all this stuff into TeamCenter.
I know this all sounds like, “Whoa… those guys are in trouble!” That’s how some feel but the reason for the post is we are simply wanting to get it right, the first time through and looking for anything and everything to make this venture as successful and yes and easy as possible.
For some of us, this is a dream come true, to fix what has been wrong for years. For others it’s living a nightmare.
Don't feel like you have to answer every point to post. If one gets your attention... we're all ears!
Thanks guys!!!
