Hi,

I am more on the mechanical side but I come across some civil engineering stuff.

According to API 617 (axial, centrifugal compressors/expander), on page 1-29, §3.3.1.2.8:

"Grouted mounting plates shall be adequately sized to limit the static loading to 100 psi on the grout"

According to another source, allowable bearing pressure on concrete (french code BA 1960), values range from 650 to 1000 PSI.

1st question: are the values I collected from BA 1960 valid?
2nd question: why are the values from API 617 the 10th of allowable bearing pressure?

yours,

tigny

P.S. I tried this request on Civil / Environmental Engineers Area - Earthwork/grading engineering Forum.
Is it possible to I crosspost to several forums?

Bearing for static loads is limited to (0.65)(0.85)f'c, or 1650 psi for 3000 psi reinforced concrete. Use 1400 psi, (0.55)(0.85)f'c, for 3000 psi plain concrete. Dynamic loads and grout change the requirement to a lesser value in the API code.
