I am trying to hold down the size of the by-pass damper before a heat recovery unit that I am putting on the exhaust of an engine-generator set.
Does anyone know the industry standard for velocity in the duct for this application?

hello,

there are not "standard" velocities in any fluid flow,
it is a combination of velocity and pressure drop availble.
the size of the duct or pipe is the optimum between velocity/pressure drop translated to energy costs and the cost of the duct/pipe itself.

regards,
roker
