I need to perform a cross-check of steam/air preheater design calculation. Exchanger purpose is to preheat 100,000Nm3/h of combustion air for CDU process heater. Calculated air pressure drop is 25mmH2O, which is reasonable.

I need information about empirical heat fluxes and overall heat transfer coefficients, employed in steam/air preheater design. I found many contradictory values in the literature, for flux as high as 20kW/m2 and as low as 4kW/m2.
I do not have experience in steam/air services, so any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Best regards

SAP's vary in tube metallurgy, size, density (tube pitch) as well as fin type, metallurgy, and spacing. That is the reason why you see so much variance in the literature. You need to write a spec and tie down some of those parameters and then examine the bids of several vendors.
