HI,

I am working on a hotel project ,

in which we have steam and a sauna room , when designing i didn't provide any extraction duct for the rooms but the operator requested to have a extraction in the steam room , but i don't get the point why do we need extraction in the steam and sauna room , it will kill the main purpose of the rooms , * rooms equipped with electric steam generator *

what i proposed was a inlet vent , either under cut of the door or a small vent opening at the bottom of the room and a outlet vent near the ceiling , in order to have fresh air circulation in the rooms ,

please advice if missed something ,

thanks

If you are planning to bring in ventilation air, then you will need to exhaust that air as well to maintain a relatively neutral balance to the room. Also, as you constantly generate or add steam to the sauna you will want to exhaust some of it to keep the humidity in the sauna constant. Additionally, as the sauna goes from being used to not used, you will need to provide a means to get rid of the steam. If the steam is allowed to sit, it will eventually migrate to adjacent spaces which can cause mold/mildew problems in those other spaces.
