Hi Guys,
Could someone give a good explanation on steam traps and what they do? How do they know when to open? How could someone design a way to have them open at a specific time?

Thanks for the help.

A steam trap is essentially just an automatic valve that opens when it senses condensate or air, and closes when it sees steam. There are half a dozen styles, and each has applications where they work well, and others where they aren't the best choice.
