We recently came across a leakage through the joint between the body and back plate of a steam trap. Upon opening it, we found significant erosion near the bolt hole, apparently due to continuous steam leakage through this path. We're trying to understand the possible reasons for this failure. Why might the steam have found this particular path? Has anyone encountered similar issues or have insights into the potential causes and solutions? Your expertise and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Note: These are ball float type steam traps and are installed on tumble dryers in laundry section of the textile mills. The manufacturer of the steam trap is Spirax Sarco and Model is FT14-10
