Steam turbine speed measuring system

Hi all,

Can someone clearly explain how speed gear teeth number is considered when to install speed measuring system on a steam turbine. What means "frequency resolution" when to talk about sensor specifications? And what is the relationship that should exist between the speed sensor and a possible 4..20mA frequency/current converter in terms of frequency related parameters (resolution frequency, range, etc, gear teeth number, etc.)?
