Does anyone out there have a simple method for development of an approximate forcing function for steamhammer ? I am interested in the hammer event when a steam system starts up and condensate is clearing from the traps

I need these fuctions to onput into CAESAR-II to complete a piping stress analysis.

What I need is an approximate loading for pipe restraint design for saturated steam systems..... the kind that would be found in a chemical process facility.

I am aware of some very expensive software that is typically used for superheated steam in electric utility applications. (SUNRISE SYSTEMS offers such software)

Anybody out there have any website references or magazine articles or technical papers ????

Thanks in advance !!!

Greetings MJC;
Your message that I stumbled across is dated, but I thought that you may benefit from knowing that the COADE discusion forum is likely the best place to submit a query of the nature you posted/I found.
Perhaps your questions have been answered, but through the discussion forum, you will receive almost immediate responses to technical questions.
Feel free to contact my office directly also, as we are a COADE Authorized Techical Center, and are thereby duty-bound to come in good will to the aid of all pipe stress analysts.
Most humble regards,

For generation of forcing function for steam hammer there is nice approach given in EC goodling paper. The forces can be plotted against time very easily

The paper was published in asme PVP also I really don't remember the year

hope this helps
