I am having a little bit of trouble developing a sense/strategy for where and when steel connections need vertical or horizontal slotted holes for adjustment in the field.... e.g. a steel brick hanger bolted/hung from a gussett plate from a beam above (vertical slotted hole in gussett??) and the brick angle (horizontal slotted hole?) which the hanger supports...

I know it's kind of a vague question and I have trouble articulating what I mean, but anything helps...thanks guys!!

Dear Mr. JBOO,

Pl. check the following minimum & maximum slot variations for a given dia of bolts.

Dia Short Slot Long slot

3/8" 7/16" x 5/8" 7/16" x 15/16"

1/2" 9/16" x 3/4" 9/16" x 1 1/4"

3/4" 13/16" x 1" 13/16" x 1 7/8"

7/8" 15/16" x 1 1/8" 15/16" x 2 3/16"

1" 1 1/16" x 1 1/4" 1 1/16" x 2 1/2"

The above dimensions , we have been following. Our team heads are very confortable with these kind of allowances.
