We are to design the structural steel for a 60' diameter dome over a pool. It will have plexiglass to allow light in. The columns will be 20'-0" high. The pitch on the steel will be 4/12. There will be a tension ring around the exterior.

Are there text books or manuals for the design of this type of structure?

There are even companies that will design and install the whole thing. Google "domes"

BTW - the chlorine from the pool will EAT plain old steel!!-- rather quickly

You might consider a Bromine or Ozone system to treat the pool water if it is available to your client. Both are far less corrosive to the steel than the Chlorine.

I know that Chlorine is cheaper, the most popular and readily available, but...
