Morning all,

I would like to purchase gears from En36 steel.

Various companies have quoted these steels, stating that these are equivalents.

SAE8620
12CrNi13
20CRMNTI

Can anyone advise:
1. Are they an equivalent?
2. What the differences in chemical composition mean in terms of using these steels for gears?

Thanks

Colin

EN36 is 15NiCr13. SAE8620 is 16MnCr5 and like 20CrMnTi is does not contain (enough) nickel to be equivalent to EN36. 12CrNi13 seems at least to be close.
