Vibratory noise when vehicles pass over the steel grating sections over a trench drain:
I would be interested in possible way(s) to stop or reduce the noise produced when cars and other vehicles cross the grating sections that span across a trench drain. There are 5 grating sections each 8± feet long, making up 40± feet.
The trench drain is across the width of the entrance/exit driveway to an underground garage for a multistorey urban apartment building. The noise affects the sleep of the apartment buildings' occupants.
I expect that this is a fairly common problem and wondered if people just live with it or have found solutions to mitigate or eliminate the clunking noise?
Is there a durable thin bearing material that could be adhered (with an epoxy?) to the supporting ledge angle?
If so what would the bearing material be? It has to be durable but soft enough not to produce noise when vehicle traverses the grating sections. Would neoprene have these properties?
Are there other solutions?
Has anyone come across this problem and solved it?

Put it in a steel frame embedded/anchored into concrete, then tack weld the grating to the frame. There are also bolted hold-down clips, if you need to remove the grating for cleaning..
