Hi,
I'm writing a report about the vibration properties, quality and production costs of several claw hammers. Part of this report focuses of the steel head of the hammer.
Metallurgy is not my main area of expertise and i hope that someone can help me with some questions.
What hardening processes have likely been performed on the whole head/the head striking surface (localized hardening on the striking surface as shown by vickers)?
What are the production costs and limitations of the likely processes?
What are the likely steels to be used in these hammers (toolsteel?) ?
With an EDX analysis (%wt of heavy elements), what would be a good reference to use to identify the steel?
I would appreciate some help, thank you.
