Guys:

Can you please recommend me a procedure or design manual for steel pile design (for solar farm foundations comprising of C-Section profiles)with applied lateral, axial loads and moment considering the soil properties, pile geometry and active/passive earth pressures.

Whats is the suggested design standard/manual for steel pile design.

Your help is highly appreciated.

Thanks

Pick up Tomlinson's book on Pile Foundation Design and Construction. Can also check out FWHA web site - publications for their books on piling. General design features would be similar whether steel, wood, concrete . . . each, though, have a few idiosyncrasies.

Have you "googled" the subject?? "Steel Pile Design" brings forth a myriad of references.

Mr BigH thanks so much for the references.

Generally, any book will do (almost). Although I'm not sure how much the applicable standards deviate. In Denmark we make the assumption that the soil is perfectly plastic. This simplifies calculations significantly and then you just have to check if the sheet pile in guestion can handle the stresses and deformations.

It might be worth taking a look at Smith's Elements of Soil Mechanics. It's inexpensive and comes with worked Excel examples.
