Good day
I have recently begun detailing of structural steel. I need a list which provides info of all steel shapes and gage dims. My Ryerson book does not have all the shapes or gage.

Thank you for the posts. I was hoping for something in excel that I could use. I have access to the book and will most likely use it. does not have a list, I checked. Unless it is in a member area.
As per the MSC question/answer. I fully agree with discontinuing gage size, but our customer uses it, so I am stuck with it.
Thank you
Adam

Adam, if you can limit yourself to a few beam depths, I have some old beam gage tables I could fax you. There are couple of problems with this, however. The sections are the old sections, so you have to pick out the closest size and use the gage for it. Plus there are sections rolled now that weren't rolled back when these tables were printed. I don't know what to do for those.
P.S. My wife almost threw this book out a couple of years ago, because it was so old (1975) and raggedy. Luckily she asked.

LRFD - 3rd Ed. has beam gages, noted as "workable gage".

JedClampett, Thanks for the offer. We use what our customer requests so we cannot limit our sizes. But I found something that might work for all sizes. I am going to make a spreadsheet for it. I may need some larger sizes than it lists. I am going to use AutoCAD Mechanical Power Pack for sizes. The list will probably have some that will be useless in most designs. I will let you know when I have it done if you want a copy.

ChipB, Thanks for the link. I am downloading it now and will be looking at it shortly.

Goto Cadalyst.com and get the March 2002 download package. It contains Stl.zip by Al Rogers (alrogers@ici.net), which draws 2D and 3D steel shapes.

Beware that the K values have increased. I believe the only place new K values are shown correctly is in the LRFD - 3rd Ed. So beware for detailing, expecialy if downloading a shape file thats a few years old.
