In which per of the code I can find it?

Thanks.

Thanks r6155
1- This is a structure of beams, columns and plates, welding performed shall be done as per ASME Sec. IX. We have a note that NDT shall be per Section V.
2- Material is Carbon Steel, A36/44W
3- It’s a skid with platforms, ladders, catch basins, grating with overall dimension 40’ x 10’

I want to know in this case if section V force us to do any specific test? if yes which one? And per which clause?

ASME Section V is standards for NDE, not specifications for what NDE is to be performed. Those would be in the Code of construction like Section VIII for pressure vessels or AWS D1.1 for structures or as specified by the customer. Your customer has said they want the inspections to be per Section V but they have not told you what is to be inspected, the degree of inspection, how it is to be inspected nor what the acceptance criteria is.

ASME IX contains requirements for the qualification
of welders, welding operators, brazers, brazing operators,
plastic fusing operators, and the material joining
processes they use during welding

ASME V contains requirements and
methods for nondestructive examination (NDE), which
are Code requirements to the extent they are specifically
referenced and required by other Code Sections or referencing
document.

As you post “We have a note that NDT shall be per Section V”, this note need to specify which NDE is required, the extension and acceptance criteria

Example:
1)all buttwelds in beams shall be 100% RT, ….
2)all fillet welds shall be 10% PT, ….

Please do not double post. You have 13 replies in the welding forum and some people might get upset if this thread is removed.

Unless your skid is a part welded to a boiler or pressure vessel, your customer cited the wrong Code. But why not ask and clarify. Maybe they voked section V just for vissual insp. Who knows, but still goes to ASNT certification of personnel to perform the Examination.
And Yes ASME SECT IX can be invoked but to use and comply with Sect V you will need more than just the Code Book,
