We are having a tank repainted. Our specs call for sandblasting in the morning and priming in the afternoon no more than 40 hours later.

We have a contractor screaming that they can sandblast for 2 days without priming and are asking for a variance and the ability to sandblast during the weekend when our inspector is not on site.

We have said no way.

Has anyone ran across this situation?

I would only allow if humidity is properly controlled through positive pressure containment and active mechanical dehumidification with 3rd party inspection prior to coating for the near white blast.

I agree.
Seems that the company have not given any technical and practical reason for not wanting or beeing able to do the job as described (?)

The reason is probably lack of manpower or equipment, or fear that they would not be competitive. The repainting is actually a question af cost/quality/lifetime of the new protection.

The facit is your job description.
