Steep Pile Batters

Anyone ever install DRIVEN piles at a batter of 2:1 (V:H)? If so, what kind of problems, if any, did you encounter during the installation?

Never heard of such a steep batter for a driven pile. It would probably require a driving template or frame. Also, efficency of the hammer would be significantly reduced at such a batter.

Agree with DRC1, a single-acting hammer may not operate at that steep angle because of internal friction. As a bridge contractor, the rule-of-thumb we experienced was that any batter greater than 4:1 (V:H) is difficult.
