I am investigating options to reinstate a failed steep slope. One option consists of soil filled bags laid to the profile of the slope retained by rock netting fixed using ground anchors at approximate 1.5 metre centres.
Is there a simple way of designing the tension in the ground anchors?

If you anchor to stable rock -we assume- one approach is to anchor the horizontal component of the layer corresponding to an anchor as if the back surface is inclined and of nil friction. This needs be conservative.

For example, if your slope is 60 deg with the horizontal, and your tributary layer per anchor weight of sand bags is 1 metric ton, each horizontal anchor would have to stand

1 metric ton x tan 30 deg x safety factor (3 ?)

It is just an idea.
