Hi,
I am working on designing a front-right steering knuckle for a racing car and would like to eventually carry out FEM analysis on my model to validate it. I would like to know what types of analysis I can carry out. I will be using ANSYS for the analysis. I was thinking of having different scenarios as follows:
1. Static: where the knuckle supports a quarter of the car's weight through the shock absorber hole
2. braking: where a moment is applied on the caliper mounting and a lot more weight is supported through the shock absorber
3. curve: weight shift during a curve and forces on the lower and upper ball joints taken into consideration
4. bump: simulate the effect of a bump if the car is going at a very high speed.
Any input (forces to consider, factors I might have left out in the above descriptions, other test cases, how I can approximate the magnitudes of the forces to applied in each case etc.) on this would be really appreciated.
