Situation is monolithic slab, 5" thick, reinforced with rebar grid and horizontal rebar in footings. One course six inch, (x8), block for garage. I have a three inch slope on the slab from the rear to the garage doors , and can make up level in framing, but wondered if anyone had thoughts on pouring a short stemwall on top of the block to add an additional 4 inches at the rear with a taper to 7" at the front for dead on level. Wish I had done a second pour as stemwall rather than block, but because of some grading issues I need to get the building up a bit higher. My concern is minimum thickness of this poured stemwall on top of the six inch block and structurally how it may or may not carry the load. Note that most of the cells in the block are open, so they would be filled at the same time. Any thoughts on best method appreciated. A second course would be easy, but why not level it with a pour for much easier framing? Minnesota weather here and as far as load, building is 40 x 24, 2 x 6 exterior framing with 10' ceiling, loft and 12/12 pitch roof.
